Your Future Doctor Will Also Be a VR/AR Designer

Imagine having a complete diagnosis of your postoperative well-being before a surgery, health delivery at home or the medicines you'll be resistant to.  Sounds like science fiction, doesn’t it? It’s not. Trying to lay aside the traditional practices of the healthcare industry, the progress of health innovation in the last five years has been incremental. Particularly, clinical medicine has already started implementing VR and AR therapies, diagnostic tools and treatment plans that are connected to a cloud of millions of clinical cases.                   Therefore, it is not difficult to imagine in a nearer future med students “playing” with surgical robotics and VR to predict illnesses on patients as well as risk agents and develop a design-approach of your clinical path. Here is when ImmersiveTouch comes into place, the real game-changers in this respect. This pioneering company has created a platform that allows surgeons and practitioners to reconstruct sur

Making Art Available Through Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality also serves a greater purpose by making art available to blind and visually impaired people. NeuroDigital Technologies have been developing gloves, enabling users to feel VR. With the collaboration of Leontinka Foundation and the National Gallery of Prague, they came up with the art exhibition “Touching Masterpieces” in Prague. The head of Nefertiti, the Venus de Milo, and David by Michelangelo are the three masterpieces that were replicated in the virtual space. This project is the first VR experience which enables blind people to “see”, with gloves and not a headset. For more details on this amazing project check out the video! The Virtual Techy

Virtual Reality in Education Sector

While exploring VR’s growing area of experiences, we happened to stumble across Leap Motion ’s “Cat Explorer” application. The app lets users delve into a cat’s autonomy for educational, medical, and entertainment purposes. The interesting mix of VR and education introduced us to the idea of bridging our research with our dear colleagues from Tech2classroom , who specializes in educational technology. Leap Motion’s technology is based on the idea of “ intuitive interaction ”. In fact, this is how they distance themselves from other developers. The Cat Explorer is evidently their easiest and most intuitive merchandise. Through VR, the app allows users to f ully explore all aspects of a cat’s autonomy .  It incorporates the skin outline, the muscle structure, the organs, as well as its vascular skeleton form. In addition, the platform offers the “pinch me” feature, which lets the user focus on a particular section of the cat’s body, with the possibility to discover all aspe

Experience Europe Through VR

“ Before travelers just had a brochure or information on the website to inform their choices. Virtual reality allows them to get a true sense of the hotel and the excursions they can go on–it’s been a real game changer for us. ”-Marco Ryan, CDO, Thomas Cook Sooner than later, Virtual Reality will be part of your travel experience and so will change the way you travel . You may find yourself using it for choosing your destination, booking a hotel room or to distract you during the flight. The travel industry has been quick to adapt its facilities to keep pursuing customer satisfaction. This is the case of travel agencies like Thomas Cook which is recently offering customers VR experiences in selected stores to help them choose among a wide variety of options. However. this is very new and therefore not available everywhere , neither for all wallets. Meanwhile, we propose you a few of VR experiences you can enjoy during your trip around Europe – so you don’t go back home withou

Augmented and Virtual Reality: A Spiel of Reality and Desire

Technology is improving at a rapid pace. Many things are possible today that were only in fiction movies 10 years ago. Augmented reality and virtual reality are two of the ways that tech is changing the way we look at the world . They are on the tipping point of becoming commercial technology.  As we can see, devices such as Oculus Rift and Google Glass are already on the market and available to all the users and developers. As a developer or investor who wants to decide which side we should pick, we need to know a little bit more about AR and VR. Augmented reality is defined as “an enhanced version of reality created by the use of technology to add digital information on an image of something”. Virtual reality is the process of using computer technology to create a simulated environment. It may be artificial, such as an animated scene, or an actual place that has been photographed and included in a virtual reality app. Whereas virtual reality replaces our vision, augmented r

VR in Pilot Training

Pilots have to go through a lot of hours of training before being able to fly an aircraft. Before virtual reality revolutionized the industry, pilots had to train on replica cockpits and computer screens , however, it was nothing like reality. Not only it was not even close to reality but also they had to build different kinds of cockpits for the different kinds of aircraft and it was very expensive . Virtual reality has completely changed the way pilots are trained. With VR, pilots can choose the aircraft they are flying, the location and also they can add technical problems or extreme weather conditions such as hurricanes . This way they are fully prepared to handle a wide range of situations. The VR experience must be as close to the reality as possible or else it may be disoriented and could be very dangerous. There are two different ways VR interferes with pilot training. The first and less expensive one is with a headset and a joystick . This system is more portable an
